Our new apse crucifix

Over more than a year we have been working with the firm Ferdinand Stuflesser of north eastern Italy in the design and production of a suitable crucifix for the apse of the monastery church. It was collected last week and, with the help of our professional team, suitable support and lighting was installed ahead of its solemn blessing and mounting after Vespers on Shrove Tuesday, in good time for Lent.

A unique work of true beauty, it is our prayer that it will serve to draw both the monks and all who come to the monastery church ever more deeply into the mysteries it signifies.

We are profoundly grateful to all who have contributed to it through our fundraiser and elsewhere, and are happy to receive further contributions towards the costs of its production, transport and installation.
