Once again this year the monastery will host the Sacra Liturgia summer school, though from 5-17 August because of the major international Sacra Liturgia conference taking place in London, England, between 5-8 July.
As usual the summer school will comprise of daily sung Mass and office, tuition in Gregorian chant (for beginners and those more advanced) and ceremonies (for priests, seminarians and laymen according to their need). Guest speakers will make presentations on some evenings after vespers. Solemn Mass will be sung at the Basilica of St Mary Magdalen and in the Chapel of St Roseline. The Bishop of Fréjus-Toulon, Msgr Dominique Rey, will celebrate Pontifical Mass at the Throne on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The summer school presents an opportunity not only for those who wish to further their liturgical formation by gaining specific skills, but also to live the liturgy more intensely and to enjoy the beautiful village of La Garde-Freinet and the region of Provence with its many attractions. Individuals, families and groups are welcome. (Not all family members and friends have to participate in the tuition.) For more information and registration see here.
